I’m writing this post in the hopes that somehow during the process I will have an a-ha moment and actually realize the organizational structure of my blog. I only started keeping this blog because it was asked of me as a way to participate in the YouShow. I also had hoped that participating in the YouShow would be of some assistance in learning about creating my own e-portfolio. So I guess the organizational structure of this blog will be based around creating an e-portfolio.
I have been playing around with WordPress in the hopes that I can eventually use the site for my e-portfolio. I am finding the more I play with the site the better accustomed to it I actually get, and yet I still stumble frequently. If you are a regular reader (of my now 3 posts – woohoo) you may notice that my theme changes frequently. I have heard from various “experts” that I shouldn’t get too hung up on how my blog looks visually, that I should focus more on the actual content. However the other side of the pancake – i.e. the students I am working alongside in creating an e-portfolio, my colleagues, anyone else I mention this project to – are equally as concerned with attaining the perfect visually appealing blog that encapsulates their individual personality to a “T”. So far I haven’t found a theme that works for me so I plan to keep changing the appearance, get used to it people change is a part of life!
Anyway – what was I talking about? Right! The structure of my blog. I plan to have several categories once I have WordPress mastered. Keeping in mind that the purpose of this blog is to eventually be used as my e-portfolio, I would like to create and utilize the following categories:
- About me
- Projects
- Work Experience
- Volunteering
- Goals
- Hobbies
- YouShow Blog
I have a feeling that in the coming few weeks I will think of several sub-categories that will fit under the categories I listed above.
I’m curious what others are thinking in terms of their own organizational structure, perhaps I should explore others blogs for ideas…
Thanks for reading!
