I do believe that this "pretending life into reality" is very much what visualizing and feedforwarding is all about.  For individuals it is about self-actualizing or in more spiritual terms is about re-discovering the Buddha self.  For teaching it is about pretending a learning space into reality AND having other trust you enough to buy in or opt in or join in.
