Nitpicking? Or Standing up for What you Believe in?

I’m sure it was innocent enough and the author didn’t think twice about it, but in this age of purple and pink princess culture,  I couldn’t let it go – a post on Kamloops 24-hr Bidding for a “girl’s” kitchen set.  So I posted a short comment –

Please don’t call it a girl’s kitchen set. Women have been working to ditch that stereotype since the 1970’s. 🙂

The author of the post was, not to my surprise, offended and replied, “Sheesh! I just said that because it belonged to my girls!”

I was tempted to respond with an apologetic explanation of my reasoning, but feared it would end up coming across as a self-righteous, patronizing lecture, so I left it at that . . . hoping that somehow my comment will stick in the mind of anyone reading it.
