The good ‘ol desk slump hump a.k.a. how we all became the Humpback of NoTRUdame
I should preface this post by saying I love my job and the flexibility it allows me to constantly learn, grow, experiment and challenge myself on a daily basis. I am, however, a restless scholar and without regular movement I become like the valiant meerkat trying with all his might to fight off the sleep demons.
If you are like me you know that a little movement goes a long way to fight the Loafing Hour.
Here are some of the strategies I use to stave off the slump:
1) Desk Stretching… Hey, AED can we put this in the next capital request? #standingdesksforeveryone
2) Walkabout. That’s pronounced “wawk-eh-boot.” If I was on top of my YouShow homework I would have a great audio clip of my voice and the phonetic pronunciation of “walkabout” #studentfail
Here are some great destinations: the mail room, Starbucks or, better yet, walk the mile over to Tim Hortons, the printer, the water cooler, the bathroom… in IB.
3) Power Postures. #practicemakesperfect
… That’s all I’ve got! If you have any suggestions for releasing your inner vagrant please share. #savethehumpbacks
