Last year through the Centre for Student Engagement and Learning Innovation and in collaboration with School District #73, I was part of the organizing committee for the first ever Tedx:Youth@Kamloops event. Through organizing and leading committee meetings, documenting meeting plans and minutes, assisting in the development of student presentations, creating a grading rubric and action list, promoting the event with the newspaper and CBC Radio, presenting at the event and sitting on several subcommittees, I was able to utilize and develop many essential skills employers are looking for.
This year, Tedx:Inspire You(th) is coming to Thompson Rivers University, and I have been assigned many of the same tasks, as well as many new ones. I look forward to expanding my knowledge and skills of organizing and facilitating events through this experience.
